  • Fire TV Stick 4K (1st Generation, Android 7.1) - Full device support, including app autoboot on restart feature.
  • Fire TV Stick 4K Max (1st Generation, Android 8) - Full device support, including app autoboot on restart feature.


Models Partly Supported:

  • Fire TV Stick 4K (2nd Generation, Android 11) - Device is supported, however app autoboot on restart is NOT supported.
  • Fire TV Stick 4K Max  (2nd Generation, Android 11)  - Device is supported, however app autoboot on restart is NOT supported.


Installation Guide:

1. On the home screen of your 4K FireStick, on the top menu bar scroll to 'Find' then click on 'Search':


2. Search for 'NowSignage' then scroll down and click into the text which says 'NowSignage'.


3. The first app listing which appears will be called 'NowSignage V2'.


4. Click into this app, then click 'install'.


5. Once installed, click 'open' to launch the app.


6. Enter in your unique screen PIN to load up your signage content.






FAQs


1. How to get the NowSignage App to autoboot

Once you have entered in your screen PIN, NowSignage will then autoboot by default (no additional settings are required). For FireStick devices, NowSignage will only auto reboot upon a hard reset of the device (so a full power on/off) standby mode is not compatible with the autoboot feature. 


Once the FireStick is fully rebooted, you will see the FireStick home screen, then after approx 30 seconds, the NowSignage app will autoboot, automatically re-enter your screen PIN and start displaying your scheduled content.


Please Note: Autoboot is not currently supported on the 2nd Gen 4k & 4K Max FireSticks, so the app needs to be manually launched upon a device reboot/restart. This is subject to change in the future, however it requires Amazon to allow the 'display over other apps' permission for application, which currently isn't available on these models.



2. How to change the screen orientation

Fire OS does not currently support portrait mode by default, however within the NowSignage app, it is possible to force a portrait or reverse portrait output on your screen. To do this, simply click edit on the screen which you wish to set an orientation on, and then click 'Adjust Screen Orientation':


Now from the dropdown, either select Portrait or Reverse Portrait and then click 'Update Screen' to apply the changes. Once this is done, upon start up of the NowSignage app, once the PIN has been entered it will force the portrait/reverse portrait screen to your display.


Please note: 

- If you are altering this after the screen has gone live, please fully reboot the app or re-enter the PIN for the changes to take affect. Leaving the 'orientation' setting black will default at the screens standard orientation setting. 

- Portrait mode is only compatible with image & video content, for full feature compatibility with portrait mode, please use an Android Media Player with native orientation settings so this can be adjusted on the hardware.



3. How to turn off the 'are you still watching' message:

This message can interrupt playback of the NowSignage app and cause the app to close down, so we advise that this is fully disabled on the FireStick. To do this, please follow the steps below:


Step 1: Visit preferences

From the Firestick home screen, press the ":gear:" to pull up the system settings dashboard. Then press "Preferences".

Step 2: Click "Data Usage Monitoring"

Step 3: Turn "Still Watching" setting to "Off"

From the Data Usage Monitoring screen, toggle the feature named "Still Watching" to "Off."
