NowSignage is available on BrightSign devices, featuring an innovative install/update mechanism that automates the initial installation of the app and automatically applies updates as they are rolled-out by NowSignage.

SD Card Guidance: Please use SD cards with at least 16GB storage to run NowSignage. Due to the nature of our application, image/video content will download and cache to play locally from the SD card storage. Please keep this in mind and purchase an SD card with appropriate storage for the content you are looking to display via NowSignage.


Firmware Guidance for series 3 & 4: For series 3 & 4 players only, please ensure that your BrightSign model has the 8.4.14 FW, this can be found here:

Video Codec Guidance:


For Series 2 & 3, please use H264 codec only

For Series 4 & 5, please use VP9 codec.

NowSignage Installation Guide:

You can either set up your BrightSign player through adding files manually to the SD card or via the BSN.cloud, please find both methods below:


Method 1 - SD Card:


Be advised, the NowSignage loader will remove any non-NowSignage files present on the SD card.


To install NowSignage to your BrightSign device, follow the instructions below:

Depending on the series of your player, download the suitable version of NowSignage loader, named autorun.brs, available at the following URLs:

  1. Open a text editor on your computer:
    1. On Windows, open Notepad: click Start Menu and type "Notepad" in the Start Menu search box.
    2. On Mac OS, open TextEdit: Press Command + Space and type "TextEdit". Once TextEdit opens, click "Format" on the menu bar and then click "Make Plain Text".
  2. Enter the five-digit screen PIN found in your NowSignage account. Save that file as pin.txt.
  3. Copy the autorun.brs and pin.txt to an SD card then insert the SD card into your BrightSign device.
  4. Reboot the BrightSign device, it may take a while for BrightSign to be fully initialized.

The updater will launch once the BrightSign is fully loaded, and you'll see the NowSignage downloader installing the signage player.


Usage notes:

  • To maintain data integrity, please don't remove the SD card while using NowSignage on BrightSign.




Method 2 - BSN.cloud:


Series 3 & Series 4 (Partner Application):

Please follow the guidance from BrightSign and set up your player with 'NowSignage' as the partner application:


Once you have set up NowSignage on your BrightSign player, you will see the PIN entry screen once the app is loaded, now to load your PIN, follow the steps below:

  • Open a text editor on your computer:
    1. On Windows, open Notepad: click Start Menu and type "Notepad" in the Start Menu search box.
    2. On Mac OS, open TextEdit: Press Command + Space and type "TextEdit". Once TextEdit opens, click "Format" on the menu bar and then click "Make Plain Text".
  • Enter the five-digit screen PIN found in your NowSignage account. Save that file as pin.txt.
  • Go into the BSN.cloud and click the 'cog' icon next to your player to remotely access it
  • Click into the 'SD' tab and upload the pin.txt file to the SD card of your player
  • Once successfully uploaded, click into the 'Control' tab and then 'Reboot' your player
  • Your player will now reboot, automatically launch NowSignage and your PIN from the .txt file will auto boot up and start displaying your scheduled content.


Series 5 (App URL):

The series 5 application is not currently listed as a partner application, however you can still use the set up method shown above to set up the device in the BSN Cloud.
